Ravel Takes 4th Place in Hong Kong

Steffen Peters and Akiko Yamazaki's Ravel [by Contango] danced their way through the Freestyle with music from Men Without Hats and the Rolling Stones. Their 76.500% in the Freestyle wasn't enough to edge out Heike Kemmer of Germany for the bronze medal.  Read more...

Welcome Sir Dominates 5 Yr. Olds

Judith Ribbels presented Welcome Sir (Sir Sinclair x Fruhling) at the Pavo Cup selection for 5 year old dressage horses. The stallion was excellent in the ring. The KWPN Commission said: `the side-passes were a pleasure to look at`, and `Welcome Sir has three very good gaits and has a very elegant movement`.

KWPN-NA Judging Seminar Sept. 4, 2008

Every year, people contact the KWPN-NA office regarding judging process at a keuring. They want to know more. Some people
are interested in becoming a jury member, while others are interested furthering their knowledge of KWPN types, conformation,
movement/jumping, class specifications and rules. To this end the KWPNNAis developing a Judging Seminar. This year an extra day has been added to the Iron Spring Farm and DG Bar Ranch keuringings for these seminars.

Riverman and Sir Sinclair Breeding Updates

From Dressage Direct: After two weekends of competition, June 21-22 and June 27-29, the 2008 USEF National Grand Prix Championship /Olympic Games Selection Trials in San Juan Capistrano, CA, are complete and the top three rider/horse combinations in the nation and in the dressage selection rankings for the 2008 Olympic Games are Steffen Peters aboard Ravel, Debbie McDonald with Brentina, and Courtney King-Dye riding Harmony’s Mythilus.

Breeding Calendar Updates

Please check the Breeding Calendar regularly for the latest updates to our breeding schedule. ISF stallions that have been training in Florida this winter are returning soon and will be available for fresh chilled semen shipments in April.

UB40 and Riverman ISF will be available for breeding starting April 16th.

Sir Sinclair, Teade, Erik and Ulbert will be available for breeding starting April 25th.

Ravel and Steffen Peters Win at Del Mar CDI-W

Steffen Peters has made no secret of his intentions that Ravel [by Contango x Democraat] will be his candidate for the U.S. Olympic team for the Hong Kong Games. With the 10-year old Dutch warmblood gelding, he's on a roll winning all the CDI-W's in California. He won the CDI-W Grand Prix in Del Mar, scoring 71.75% on March 15th.  Read more...

KWPN Breeding Index Announced

The KWPN society announced today the breeding index of the KWPN licensed stallions. The leading Dutch warmblood stallion with offspring older than 10 competing successfully in dressage is Cocktail (by Purioso x Le Val Blanc xx). Cocktail is UB40's grandsire. Contango was named second.

Contango Offspring Winning Coast to Coast

It was a winning weekend of dressage from Florida to California for Contango offspring. Ravel and Montango, ridden by Steffen Peters won Grand Prix, Prix St. George and Int. I in Burbank.

Wencenza, Ster, ridden by Jodi Stevens Kelly and owned by Beth Godwin won 2 FEI Young Horse Test Yr. Olds at the Palm Beach Dressage Derby in Florida. [Wencenza also has a Sir Sinclair foal.]

New Tango owned and ridden by Tara Stegen also placed in the Grand Prix at the Palm Beach Derby.

Approved Sons for Heinse 354 and Ulbert 390

Breaking News from the KFPS website. Iron Spring Farm stallions, Heinse and Ulbert have sired two new FPS stallions.

Maurits 437 (Ulbert 390 x Ulke 338) with 81 points under saddle.
Meinse 439 (Heinse 354 x Dirk) with 78 points under saddle.

ISF Friesians Awarded Sport Predicate

It's official. Teade 392, Ulbert 390, Heinse 354, Erik 351 and Goffert 360 have all been awarded the Sport predicate from the FPS in Holland. Sport is awarded for performance scores. For dressage the requirement is 6 scores over 60% at 3rd level.

Judgement Jumps 6'4" in Animal Planet Cup

The venue was the Syracuse Invitational Sport Horse Tournament, the class was Phase II of the Animal Planet Cup with 7 riders competing for the $50,000 prize. Judgement and Beezie Madden won this event last year, and nearly scored a repeat this year.

Phase II is the 4 Bar, which is the power phase that tests the strength and prowess of the horses as well as the riders’ nerves and skills.  Read more...

Ulbert and Teade at the CBLM Championships

A very busy season ended with ribbons for Iron Spring Farm stallions Teade 392 and Ulbert 390, ridden by Mary Alice Malone.

Ulbert was named Res. Champion 3rd Lvl. with a score of 65.51% and placed 1st at 4th Lvl. 1 with a score of 65.81%. Teade placed 4th in the Championships with a score of 62.05%

Sir Sinclair Wins Get of Sire

Day 2 of the Dressage at Devon Breed Show started with an amazing win for Sir Sinclair. Two Sir Sinclair foal groups were presented and they placed First and Second in the class. Contango's group placed Sixth.

Sir Sinclair also won the Get of Sire class in 2006.

DAD Breed Show Results

"It was a clean sweep for Iron Spring Farm at the opening day of Dressage at Devon presented by WTDirect. ISF swept the Colt Championship, the Filly Championship and the Young Horse Championship under dazzling blue skies..." Day 2 proved to be equally successful With Bien Sir named as Grand Champion, and Rabiola named Reserve Grand Champion.

Welcome Sir, Approved Son of Sir Sinclair

Welcome Sir was successfully licensed by the Westfälisches Pferdestammbuch e.V. after completing his 70 day stallion test at Münster-Handorf, Germany, August 9th 2007. He placed 8th in dressage and 14th overall.

Welcome Sir is licensed with a 'Recognized' (Erkende) Studbook. Offspring by Welcome Sir out of KWPN registered mares are eligible for registration in the Register A. Offspring out of mares that are not KWPN registered will be eligible for registration and branding by the Westfalen Studbook.

The Pavo Cup is the KWPN young dressage horse championship of Holland. 73 qualifying horses competed with the top 25 going on to the final competition in Ermelo.

Judgement and Beezie on Winning Super League Team

Judgement ISF and Beezie Madden were part of the US Team that won the Samsung Super League tournament at Hickstead, London. The pair with 4/0 faults helped squeeze the British home team out of first place. This win was sorely needed to bring the US Team up to 5th Place on the leaderboard with only one competition to go in the series. The final round will be held in Dublin.

UB 40 with rider Alex Robertson have won their last 7 classes with the highest score at 3rd Lvl. of 72. 308. The high score for 6 Yr. YH was 7.9.

Winand 405 - You Will be Missed

It is with deep sorrow that we announce that Winand 405 was euthanized on July 11th 2007. He had colic surgery in April and while he was recovering he contracted laminitis.

“We have been trying to stop the laminitis since then but unfortunately last week the disease began to progress rapidly and there was nothing left we could do to save him. Winand was a wonderful stallion, with a super personality, outstanding beauty and wonderful to ride. We miss him very much.“

North American breeders now have another exciting option for Friesian breeding with the arrival of Ulbert 390. This beautiful stallion was born in 1998, is approved on offspring and has a 53% star rating. He was bred by M. Doller of the Netherlands.

Maestro, 2nd Contango Approved Son

The Grand Prix dressage stallion, Maestro has been approved by the KWPN in Holland after the short (5 day stallion test).

The 1994 stallion by Contango out of Carion ( Ster, Preferent, Prestatie) by Joost. His registered name is Montango and show name is Maestro. He was bred by J.A.G. Mors, and is ridden by Karen Nijvelt.

The extravagantly moving Welcome Sir, by Sir Sinclair out of Fruhling, was the highlight of the 2006 KWPN Select Sale. The auction included licensed and non-licensed stallions following the 2006 KWPN Stallion Licensing in 's Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands.

Welcome Sir will remain in Holland for his 70 test at Ermelo.


Judgement ISF COTH Show Jumper of the Year

Judgement ISF has been named the Chronicle of the Horse Show Jumper of the Year and his rider Beezie Madden has been named Overall and Show Jumping Horseman of the Year. What an amazing team! And Judgement is the first US bred horse to win the richest Grand Prix.

CONTANGO AWARDED PREFERENT PREDICATE

We are excited to announce Contango has been awarded the predicate, Preferent, by the KWPN. Contango is the 2nd stallion in history, standing outside of the Netherlands, to receive the highest predicate available to KWPN stallions. (Roemer, who also stood at ISF was the 1st.)

SIR SINCLAIR AWARD FROM USDF

Sir Sinclair was named FEI Horse of the Year - Six Yr. Olds by the USDF. He competed in 8 of the FEI 6 Yr. Old tests with scores ranging from 7.3 to 8.8. For a complete lisiting of test scores see the USDF site link below.

KWPN INSPECTS CONTANGO, SIR SINCLAIR COLTS

The KWPN Stallion Selection Committee has inspected 637 colts to begin the selection process. We are proud that our stallions Contango and Sir Sinclair each had sons selected and Contango and Juventus had grandsons selected to go on.  Read more...

KWPN APPROVED: CITANGO by CONTANGO

The NA/WPN bred stallion Vitamorkus was approved by the KWPN after completing the 70-Day test. The stallion now carries the name Citango because he was previously approved by the NRPS where the name of the sire determines the name of the offspring.

Citango is the first NA/WPN bred stallion that has been approved in Holland by the KWPN. A unique accomplishment! Citango was bred by Loucky Hagens-Groosman from Purcellville, VA. He was in the NA/WPN Top Ten as a foal in 2002. After the keuring Koen and Marco Brinkman became half owners of the colt and then imported him to Holland.

Citango is a son of Contango and the well-known elite mare Ritamorka (Jazz x Zuidhorn). Citango earned the following scores at the test: Walk 8, Trot 8.5, Canter 8.5 and Dressage Talent 8

2005 - FHANA KEURING RESULTS

30 Friesians participated in the 2005 FHANA Keuring at Iron Spring Farm. There were several 1st and 2nd Premiums and the stallions Heinse354, Teade392 and Goffert 369 were presented as well, all three earning 1st Premium again this year. See all results in the attached file.

2005 - JUDGEMENT WINS SPRUCE MEADOWS GRAND PRIX

Judgement and Beezie Madden won the Million Dollar CN International at the Spruce Meadows Masters Tournament. The starting field was 47 horses and the event offers the riches Grand Prix purse in the world.

Beezie said in an interview with Ken Krauss of Towerheads.com that this is her biggest win ever, which is high praise from an Olympic medallist. She describes Judgement as a power jumper who is fast, versatile and capable in many types of conditions. Ken Krauss is certainly a Judgement fan, and has been for some time. He said "...real quietly Judgement is... becoming one of the great horses of all time." Judgement is the first USA bred and born winner of this event.

2005 - SIR SINCLAIR WINS AT KENTUCKY HORSE PARK

Sir Sinclair with Belinda Nairn-Wertman won the 6 Yr. Old USEF FEI Young Horse Championships at Kentucky Horse Park. The winning score was 8.45%. Belinda said "He makes it easy".

UB40 and 2005 Foal Inspection Photos

On September 7th 2005 at the Midden-Nederland foal auction in The Netherlands – the top selling foal was Armstrong M. who is by UB-40. The foal sold for 31,000 euros. (38,076.39 USD)

Longines Royal International Horse Show in Hickstead, England, July 31st - Bunn Leisure Queen Elizabeth Cup II Grand Prix - 6th out of 31 horses

Fáilte Ireland Dublin Horse Show CSIO, August 5th, 2005 - 1st place tie in the Irish Field Six Bar - 22 horses competed in the class

The Dublin Stakes, August 6. 2005 - 5th Place out of 46 horses with a double clear and the highest ranked American horse/rider team.

Next the team is off to Aachen and the Spruce Meadows Masters Tournament.

Ovation by Rampal

Ovation continued to show his talents at the Ascona CSI competion in Switzerland on Saturday 7/30/05. Ovation ridden by Markus Fuchs and owned by Laura Linback won a Grand Prix class – Class # 11 Premio Zschokke. They were 1st out of 47 horses and won with a time of 33.76 seconds in the jump off.

FHANA STALLION CERTIFICATES for 2006 FOALS

We have decided to do things a little differently this year in regard to sending out stallion certificates. Previously we sent the certificate out at the end of the breeding season in anticipation of the foal's arrival the following spring. Going forward we will send the certificate after the foal is born. CONTANGO SONS WIN IN HOLLAND

Two sons of Contango, Showtime and Broere Maroon, won their classes at the Zwolle Stallion Show in Holland.

Showtime won the 6 Yr. Old FEI test and Broere Maroon was given the Best Stallion Award. Congratulations to the owners! Showtime is shown below.
